IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation with its experience consisting of more than twenty-years of humanitarian aid work in regular as well as periodic basis for orphaned and homeless children, has observed that the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children are those who live in orphanages. Acting on this observation on World Orphan’s Day 2015 we would like to highlight the situation of the orphanages in the Muslim world by raising awareness about the harsh conditions in the orphanages and adversity of the children, who live there, face and point out that the perception and approach regarding the orphanages need to be changed at once as these institutions, which try at substantial levels to keep providing shelter to orphans, require urgent rejunevation.

In this study we have used the reports of national and international organizations operating in the regions concerned. However, lack of humanitarian and social research regarding these regions done by Muslim aid organizations made it very difficult to tackle this issue from all aspects. On the other side it was noted that the reports of UNICEF which is an umbrealla organization fail to provide significant information about the Muslim populated areas as UNICEF reports are focused on other areas. Therefore, this study brings together the regions where orphanages data was already present from various resources or data which was able to be gained firsthand from the regions examined.
