Trump says talks on Nile dam dispute 'went well'! - 6 November 2019
United States President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he held successful talks with officials from Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan over a new dam being built on the Nile river. Trump was mediating in a dispute over Ethiopia's construction of the huge dam which Egypt says could drastically disrupt the Nile, the river providing 90 percent of the country's drinking water. Ethiopia says the five-billion-dollar Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam near the border with Sudan will be a massive boost to the economy and is necessary to provide much-needed electricity. However, the Egyptians fear the move would be at its expense, and reduce its share of Nile water.

EU and NATO representatives release about Turkey’s Operation Peace Spring – October 10, 2019
Turkey launched the Operation Peace Spring in order to create safe areas for the eastern Euphrates on October 9, 2019. While EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy High Representative Federica Mogherini emphasized to halt the operation from Turkey, NATO also expressed its concerns against the plan. Juncker, The president of the EU Commission, told the European Parliament that EU understands Turkey’s “security concerns” along the border. But he warned the military action would not lead to a “good result” for the region. Acording to Turkey, the terrorist group PKK and its extension the YPG/PYD constitute the biggest threat to Syria’s future, jeopardizing the country’s territorial integrity and unitary structure. Turkey plans to resettle two million Syrians in a 30-km-wide (19-mi) safe zone to be set up in Syria.
At least one person has died overcrowded refugee camp in Greece - September 30, 2019
During a demonstration by a group who wanted to move from the Moria camp, known for its poor conditions on the island of Lesbos, a fire broke out in the container where the refugees stayed. Affected by fire, a woman and child have died and 17 people were slightly injured. Nearly one million refugees crossed from neighbouring Turkey to the Greek islands from 2015 to present.
US State Department assigned a new envoy for the Western Balkans, Serbia and Kosovo - August 28, 2019
U.S. the Secretary of State has appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary Matthew Palmer as his Special Representative for the Western Balkans. In a statement on August 30,  the State Department said that Palmer will lead U.S. efforts to strengthen “diplomatic engagement in support of peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and focus on integration of the Western Balkan countries into Western institutions." The EU is also expected to appoint a special representative for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process, after US appoints US Deputy Secretary of State Matthew Palmer as Special Representative for the Western Balkans. Besides, French President Emannuel Macron said in a brief press release following his meeting with Serbia's foreign minister Ivica Dacic at the UN 74th Plenary Session, France would be involved in the dialogue process after the October 6th elections in Kosovo. The dialogue, launched in 2011 to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia, which is on its way to EU membership, came into a deadlock when Kosovo began to impose a 100% tax on Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina's products in late 2018.

The 5.8-magnitude earthquake in Albania, whose epicenter is 30 kilometers north of the city of Durrës, injured 105 people and damaged more than 600 buildings. Following the first earthquake of 5.8, recorded as the biggest earthquake of the last 30 years, 340 aftershocks occurred, the smallest of which was 2.9.

The formation of a coalition government in Israel led by Benjamin Netanyahu will be at the expense of the occupied West Bank, Israeli broadcaster Kan reported yesterday. Kan said that the Union of the Right-Wing Parties and the Likud are laying down a term in the coalition agreement including the annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank. According to Kan, the talks are revolving around annexing the major illegal Israeli Jewish settlements, but it was agreed that this term would remain general to allow room for maneuverability.

The Trump administration is working to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a foreign "terrorist" organisation, the White House said on Tuesday, which would bring sanctions against Egypt's oldest Islamist movement. "The president has consulted with his national security team and leaders in the region who share his concern, and this designation is working its way through the internal process," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in an email. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had urged US President Donald Trump to take the step during an April 9 visit to the White House, the New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing officials familiar with the matter. After the meeting, Trump praised Sisi as a "great president," as a bipartisan group of US politicians raised concerns about Sisi's record on human rights.
‘Israel has arrested 50,000 Palestinian children since 1967’- April 29, 2019
The Prisoners’ and Freed Prisoners’ Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation revealed on Sunday that the Israeli occupation authorities have arrested more than 50,000 Palestinian children since 1967, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed has reported. Almost 17,000 of those arrested were detained in the years since the start of Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000. The detention of Palestinian children, he explained, is practised “systematically” by the Israeli authorities.

East based Libyan National Army (LNA) leaded by general Khalifa Hafter, has launched a new military operation against UN backed forces in Libya's capital Tripoli. The UN blamed the operation to General Khalifa Haftar, a commander from the east who is trying to seize the capital by the coup. Khafter is backed by some Arab regimes.

6,000 Palestinian children jailed by Israel since 2015: NGO - April 5, 2019
At least 6,000 Palestinian children have been detained by Israeli authorities since 2015, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Association. In a statement issued on Friday to mark Palestinian Children's Day, the NGO said 98 percent of the children held had been subjected to psychological and/or physical abuse while in Israeli custody. According to the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority's Committee for Prisoners' Affairs, the total number of Palestinians currently imprisoned by Israel stands at 5,700, including 48 women and 250 children.

Palestinian prisoners in Israel's jails launch hunger strike - April 7, 2019
Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have launched an open-ended mass hunger strike over deteriorating conditions inside. About 30 inmates started the strike on Sunday, and up to 1,500 others will join them in the coming week, the prisoners - including administrative detainees - said in a statement circulated by local media. The prisoners will reject the intake of any food or water, mainly in protest against the recent installation of mobile phone reception blocking equipment in the Ramon prison, a notorious Israeli military jail in the southern Negev region. This equipment is a health hazard that harms the prisoners and may lead to cancer, the prisoners said in their statement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that he would annex illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank if he wins another term in office, in an attempt to win over right-wing voters. “We’re going to continue controlling the entire territory west of the  [River] Jordan,” he said, about the occupied West Bank. Roughly 650,000 Jewish settlers currently live on more than 100 settlements in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. International law views the West Bank and East Jerusalem as “occupied territories” and considers all Jewish settlement-building activity there as illegal.
Netanyahu: “I offered Gaza to many Arab leaders, they refused.” - April 5, 2019
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he offered a number of Arab countries control of the occupied Gaza Strip but “no one wanted to do this”. Speaking in an interview with Israeli national radio Kan, Netanyahu explained that Israel had continued to bomb Gaza as it’s “impossible to reach a political settlement with those who want to annihilate the Strip,” referring to Hamas, which runs the Strip. Netanyahu noted that he didn’t know whether it would be possible for Israel to reach “a long-term ceasefire”. “One thing I do know is that I don’t engage in needless wars.”

Comedian Zelensky favored to win in Ukraine election 2019
Volodymyr Zelenskiy, one of the comedians in Ukraine,  with no political experience has won the most votes in the first round of Ukraine's presidential elections early results indicate.  Volodymyr Zelenskiy had approximately 30% of the votes, with current leader Petro Poroshenko on 16%.
China imprisons Famous Kazakh Imam
Patihan Arsan and his wife were arrested and sent to one of Xinjiang’s many so-called re-education camps, along with an estimated 1 to 1.5 million others. Although the Chinese government awarded the ethnic-Kazakh imam “Xinjiang’s Model Citizen” award, it wasn’t enough to get rid of assimilation policies of  China.
